THE PATTERN FOUNDRY

by Körner Union, Lausanne/ Switzerland

This patterns theme is very classic, it talks about the everyday life in an African landscape: baobabs, people chatting, working, living and interacting with each other. It was inspired by traditional African and (some) Pacific island drawings, whilst trying to add a little "Kö touch"....

0075.GAN.MIT
MITIM

by Ryan Gander, London/ UK

It’s Like the Spoilt Brat of the Dictionary, but One It’ll Never Enter. (Mitim)

A repeated red zig-zag line, usually found within word processing programs to denote a word that is not in the manufactures or the users dictionary. The Line underscores here the word Mitim in repetition but has seemingly vanished. Mitim is a fictional word newly invented by Ryan Gander. Deriving from a compound Neopheutos-mythoetymon the word points to the meaning - a newly invented word with a mythical etymology, a self-descriptive word, idea or object that refers back to the legacy of its own construction. More information about the word can be found in the publication ‘It’s Like the Spoilt Brat of the Dictionary, but One It’ll Never Enter’ ISBN 0-9550142-0-4 Published by Store, London, April 2005.
